| Dinesh Trivedi Member of Parliament Party: All India Trinamool Congress 181, South Avenue A Rajya Sabha member from West Bengal, Mr. Trivedi is a representative of the All India Trinamool Congress. Presently, he is serving as Member, Panel of Vice-Chairmmen, Rajya Sabha; Member, Committee on Petitions; Member, Committee on Public Undertakings; and Member, General Purposes Committee. Mr. Trivedi was elected to the Rajya Sabha in 1990. He went on to become the Chairman, Passengers Amenities Committee, Ministry of Railways. As a second term member of the Rajya Sabha, he served on the Committee on Rules, Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Committee on Finance, and Committee on Commerce. Previously, Mr. Trivedi was associated with the Janata Dal. Mr. Trivedi was educated at St. Xavier's College, Calcutta University, and the University if Texas, U.S.A. He also holds a pilot's license having acquired training both in India and the U.S.A. A management consultant, by profession, Mr. Trivedi was Managing Trustee, Consumer Protection Care, Kolkata. He has widely given lectures at various national and international forums and has participated in prestigious debates. He has also been the member of voluntary organizations like the Special Police (Traffic Warden), Round Table India, etc. Mr. Trivedi is actively involved in students' affairs in India as well as abroad. He was President of the International Students' Association, University of Texas. Mr. Trivedi is an expert on issues related to management, economics, civil aviation, and political science; and has written several articles on related topics in leading newspapers of India with a view to upheld the consumer protection movement and fight the menace of criminalisation in politics. He visited Spain and the U.K. as member
of the Parliamentary Delegation in 1994 and has traveled throughout
the world for education, academic, and tourism purposes. He has
special interest include sports. |
